How do I maintain the custom FX rate for initial company valuation?
How to set a custom fx rate for company valuation at the time of initial investment and prevent it from floating?
Navigate to the Settings at the top bar > FX and conversion settings > FX RATES.
Select the base currency and quote currency.
Make sure you have a "Manual FX update (affects fair value)" set for the date of the initial transaction for the company. The update has been generated automatically, as long as you've added the initial investment to the company and clicked "YES" in the modal "Apply this rate for Fair Valua calculations".
In the case below, you want the company valuation at the time of initial investment (10.04.2024) to be using the FX rate set for the initial investment date, 10.04.2024, 1 € = 1,2 $.
Navigate to Conversion settings column within the Currency and FX settings.
Make sure you've selected "Fixed rate" for Fair Value of equity (Price per share" and pending SAFEs if you want the initial company valuation to use the FX rate set for the date of the initial investment date.
In case you use the Floating rate, the latest FX rate available will be used to convert the value of the company valuation at the time of initial investment.
